Every week, the world ends. Pre, post, and a millennialists alike see Revelation 21 as a picture of worship in which humanity finds its end (as in telos- final destination, fullness, delight!). God himself says it, “It is finished,”… “I am the Alpha and the Omega the beginning of the end, to the thirsty I will give water from the stream of life.” Finally it all ends around the throne of God. But every week, on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, even on the rare Friday afternoon, the world ends. When God’s people gather in worship, the thin veil flutters and humanity finds its telos around the throne of God. I study the end of the world that happens every day. I want to help the church remember the importance of her everyday telos.
